Hello everyone, time got away from me last week and I didn't get to post till today, but no worries, all is good.
Last Wednesday, I went to my
pre-op appointment with Dr. L., we discussed that I would actually be there 2-3
days instead of overnight. Game
plan change. He also wanted to make sure that my family knew what we were
looking at so no one would be surprised at the consultation. Check.
Thursday morning, I
went to the hospital to pre-op and went through the full gambit of
x-rays, ekg & lab work. If there is such a thing as a 5 star hospital, this
one is it. Everyone was so professional and dedicated, they actually enjoy
their jobs.
Needless to Thursday evening was a very restless
night. Did the last minute things
and off we went. Arrived just a
few minutes early and then just waited until that voice said “
Mrs.Pizio-White” we are ready for
you in the back. The pre-op nurse
had me change into the million dollar gown and then set up my IV.
25 years ago all the doctors were 25 years older than me, now I feel I am
25 years older than them. Then came in the margarita maker, he shared that he
would be giving me some meds and oxygen and would be out about an hour. Then
moved to the O.R. and moved to the table and I was out.
Next I was waking up and rolled into my room. To my surprise I had some
voice. Said my hello’s and then in come nurses to take blood and blood
pressure. I asked for ice chips and I received them… nothing has ever tasted so
good. Then the roller coaster of nausea and pain meds started. I
know family and friends came and visited but it is all kind of a blur as to time
lines. By Sunday I was determined to at least get off the pain meds, I did good,
and haven’t taken any since either. Sunday’s lunch was the 1st meal that stayed with me… mixed veggies
were divine… by dinner time nothing sounded good, but Mondays breakfast sounded
and was good… blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs… and it stayed with me too…
yeephee. Dr. L. came in and removed the last drain and said I could go
home. No pathology reports back
yet. But the way I see it, that nasty mess is
out of me and rest should be a walk in the park.
I
have managed to stay up all day today in hopes of sleeping better though the
night. Allergies are kicking my but this week, making my throat very sensitive
and soar, hoping that when I see the Dr. in the A.M. and takes the staples out
it may subdue some of this
