No Greater Wealth than Health

With the hustle and bustle of December coming on, I though it would be a good idea to do some reflecting and piroritizing what this holiday season will look like for me.

I, personally haven't followed celebrities through out my life. There are a couple that have always had my admiration and respect, but  I didn't "keep up" with there day to day lives.  I figure they are human just like the rest of us and the slant of what ever the media wants us to know will most likely not be the whole story anyway. It seems that once someone crosses over, then all the "good" that they did surfaces to the top to make a good humanitarian story? 

Maybe as I get older I have come to better appreciate what goes into making a life story your own and on your own terms.
 & 
Maybe as some of this knowledge comes from dealing with the roller-coaster ride called cancer. 

What I do know is my parents would say " without your health, you have nothing".  So it seems others  have learned this lesson along the way as well. 

When I learned of Steve Jobs  and his battle with pancreatic cancer and how he shared his words of wisdom while alive and publicly, I was touched profoundly. I think his words to this day ring in many an ear and hopefully helped others prioritize what is really important in their life. I know he did for me. 

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary". Steve Jobs. 

No matter how successful any of us might me, without good health your wealth becomes meaningless. Sometimes, sickness ends abruptly with death, shocking family and friends with its abruptness. Sickness goes beyond a how much is in the bank account.
Those that are sick will spend every last time in an attempt to make it go away. 

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true". Steve Jobs.


"Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart" Steve Jobs. 

 It's easy to not appreciate the gift of a healthy life until we lose it and have to depend on others for the simplest things in life. 

While goals are nice, make sure you smell the roses and even the manure that helps them become so beautiful.
