I have wanted to do some reading about Shamanism and Native traditions, for a better under-standing of Natural medicine and the part it plays in my healing. I asked a wise and wonderful artist friend of mine where would I start in this journey. Rae with creativity tribe smiled & said, I have a couple of books that you might enjoy reading on Shamanism (1).
At the beginning of June another dear friend of mine Tracy had mentioned that she was in contact with an old friend who happen to be Native American. When I made contact with him I said, "Joe is there a story behind your Icon". He said yes, that the White Buffalo is a sacred animal and very rare. When one sees a white buffalo- means abundance, caution, concern and prayer are in order. He shares the story about a white buffalo calf that was born this spring in his eastern state. Joe suggested that I read about the White Buffalo calf woman(2). I make a mental note to do just that... in the mean time I am wanting to finish up the books I was given to read about the history.
When I finished the books Rae gives me yet another book to read on drumming and the part in plays in healing as well. First night into reading this book, up comes "White Buffalo, calf woman" (3). So you can only imagine how quickly my curiosity peaked then... this just wasn't a random event... Universe is trying to get me to "learn some lesson/s and is putting huge " Flags" for me to pay attention to. I am listening and watching for signs, etc.
Then on June 18th I just happen to come across a news article about another white buffalo calf being born in Colorado. (4)
The same week I am given an invitation to attend a cacao ceremony on June 22 (5). I accepted, it is the weekend of summer solstice and super moon too. I was not real sure what to expect but kept my mind open to the opportunity to learn and observe.
As I walk in, Instantly I was greeted by everyone there, unconditional acceptance was mine for the having and giving.. I had never experienced such a beautiful event such as this with a room full of people that were unknown to me. Within minutes of Sitting down in the Center, as I looked around this is what I see in the corner of the room (6). Yes you guessed it there is more......under the pic. Even though the true White Buffalo has white hooves as well you have to know that tears were running down my cheeks at this point. I asked permission to take a picture so that I could share this with you. To see the drum leaning next to it (remember I had read the book on drumming ceremonies (7).
We all went to "glow" as it is often called and had a wonderful experience with the others in the group.. Learned later that night that I was invited back for the Wednesday night classes hosted by Rev Shar. Looking forward to the inner work as we delve into meditation and spiritual healing of ourselves and be able to support others in time.
I have been told more than once that the number "7" represents the Devine. With That in mind... The idea of blogging about this aspect of meditation and healing has started.
