Keys to this success are:
Will key records be saved and stored off site?
Will the Electronic equipment be reasonably protected from possible water damage if unable to take offsite?
If power is lost how will this affect possible products that are carried at the locations?
Is there a source for a Generator?
Has the business planned on a back up location to reopen till repairs can be made if damaged?
A plan to have extra cash/ checks available to operate on a small scale if electronic accessibility is unavailable or limited?
Research has proven that if time (2-4 hours) is allowed for workers to secure their own residential areas first they will be better able to focus on doing their job better and be willing to go the extra mile for someone else in need.
To have all employees 24 hour contact information as well as a 2nd contact number or another family members' number as backup. Communicating with one another will be very important when the time comes to getting back and reopening up the business.
Also if time allows and the situation looks like it could last for several days, consideration should be given to paying employee/s earlier than the normal payday if possible.
